Recently the CARES Act – “The Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security (CARES) Act” was passed to assist in emergency relief associated with the COVID-19 crisis. Typically those who don’t itemize deductions on their taxes and take the standard deduction do not get any tax benefit for cash donations to nonprofits. The CARES Act authorizes an “above-the-line” deduction of up to $300 for individuals and $600 for married couples if you give a donation to qualified nonprofits. (Must be a 501(c)3 nonprofit.)  What this means for you, if you donate up to $300 (individual) or $600 (married) to a qualified nonprofit, you will be able to deduct the same amount that you donate from your taxable income on your taxes next year therefore lowering your adjusted gross income (the amount of money that you have to pay taxes on). You will not have to itemize in order to claim it on your 2020 return.

The Pantry Plus More is proud to operate with some of the best efficiency in our sector. As an all-volunteer organization, 87% of your tax deductible donation goes straight to funding our programs that provide nutrition, hygiene, and school supplies to kids and families in need, with a small portion of donations supporting our operating costs.

Food, Hygiene Products, or School Supplies

The Pantry Plus More depends on the community and appreciates all donations of money, food, hygiene products, or school supplies.  By supporting us, you help bring the much needed basic resources directly to children where they are and where they have the transportation to take them home.  In addition to donations of items, monetary donations are always welcome.  We are able to turn $1.00 into approximately $6 to $8 by purchasing through the Mountaineer Food Bank and other wholesale resources available to us as a 501(c)3 nonprofit.
